Another option to report a claim is via e-mail within 24 hours of the incident (or as soon as possible):

In the e-mail, include the following information:

  • Name of business
  • Policy Number
  • Reporting party’s contact information (name, phone, e-mail)
  • The name, phone and e-mail address of injured employee
  • Date of incident
  • Location of incident (address and/or city, state)
  • Description of incident

Report injury or illness

  • The worker should immediately report the injury or illness to you or their direct supervisor.
  • Contact your workers’ compensation insurer. 

Provide medical care

  • You’re responsible for making sure the worker gets initial medical care.
  • Documentation: You or your representative should document the injury, illness, treatment, and time spent at work.

What is the waiting period for lost wages in Connecticut:

No payment is due for the first 3 days of disability (excluding the date of injury) unless the disability lasts longer than 7 days, then the first 3 days will be paid retroactively. The day of the injury itself does NOT count as a day of incapacity from work. The employee should be paid by the employer for the full day on the date of injury regardless of whether he/she can return to work.
